Have you ever felt like you were doing all the "right" things for your mental health: journaling, going to therapy, practicing mindfulness: but there was still a missing piece of the puzzle? Sometimes, traditional talk therapy gets us to a certain point, but we still find ourselves repeating the same old patterns in our relationships, our careers, or our self-image.
That’s where Psychoastrology® comes in.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and the founder of Nolatherapy, I’ve spent years bridging the gap between clinical psychology and the ancient wisdom of astrology. I call this intersection Psychoastrology®. It isn’t about predicting the future or checking your daily horoscope to see if you’ll find a twenty-dollar bill on the sidewalk. Instead, it’s a deep, compassionate framework for understanding your psychological blueprint and healing the core wounds that hold you back.
If you’re ready to take your self-care to a more soulful level, here is how you can integrate Psychoastrology® into your daily mental health routine.
Understanding the "Why" Behind the "What"
In traditional therapy, we look at your history, your family dynamics, and your behavior. In Psychoastrology®, we look at your natal chart as a psychological map. It shows us your innate strengths, your communication style, and, most importantly, your "Chiron placement."
Chiron, known in mythology as the "Wounded Healer," represents the area of our lives where we carry a deep, often unconscious wound. In my book, The Chiron Effect: Healing Our Core Wounds through Astrology, Empathy, and Self-Forgiveness, I dive deep into how these placements manifest as feelings of inadequacy, abandonment, or neglect.
When you integrate this into your daily routine, you stop asking "What is wrong with me?" and start asking "How is my energy showing up today?" This shift from self-criticism to curiosity is the foundation of true healing.

Step 1: Identify Your Core Wound
Before you can integrate Psychoastrology® into your daily life, you need to know what you’re working with. Your Chiron sign and house placement reveal your "core wound." For example:
- Chiron in Aries: Wounds around identity and the right to exist.
- Chiron in Taurus: Wounds around self-worth and physical security.
- Chiron in Gemini: Wounds around communication and being heard.
By understanding your specific placement, you can tailor your daily mental health practices. If you have Chiron in Gemini, your daily routine might focus heavily on expressive journaling. If it’s in Taurus, it might focus on grounding somatic exercises.
You can learn more about identifying these wounds by listening to episodes of the All Things Therapy podcast, where we often discuss how these astrological archetypes play out in real-world mental health scenarios.
Step 2: Morning Intentions Through an Astrological Lens
Most of us start our day by checking our phones. What if, instead, you checked in with the cosmic weather and your own internal compass?
Integrating Psychoastrology® doesn't mean you need to be an expert in planetary transits. It just means being aware of the general "vibe" of the day. Is the Moon in a fiery sign like Leo, making it a good day for creative expression and visibility? Or is it in a sensitive water sign like Pisces, suggesting you might need extra boundaries and self-soothing?
Daily Practice:
Spend five minutes each morning looking at your day through the lens of your natal chart. If you know you have a "challenging" placement: perhaps a lot of planetary activity in your 12th house of the subconscious: give yourself permission to move a little slower. Use this time to set an intention centered on empathy. Say to yourself: "I honor my sensitivity today, and I choose to treat my wounds with the same kindness I would offer a friend."
Step 3: Compassionate Journaling
Journaling is a staple of mental health, but Psychoastrology® gives it a specific focus. Instead of just listing what happened during the day, use your Chiron placement as a prompt for self-reflection.
If you’re feeling triggered by a comment from a co-worker or a partner, stop and ask: “Which part of my chart is being activated right now?” If your wound is centered on "not being enough" (often seen in Chiron in Leo or the 5th House), recognize that the sting you feel isn't just about the current moment: it’s an echo of that core wound.
Try these prompts:
- How did my core wound show up today in my interactions?
- In what ways did I practice self-forgiveness when I felt "less than"?
- Where did I see my "Wounded Healer" energy turn into a strength today? (For example, using your own pain to empathize with someone else).

Step 4: The Power of "Cosmic Empathy"
One of the most transformative aspects of Psychoastrology® is the development of empathy: both for yourself and others. When you realize that everyone is carrying a "Chiron wound," your perspective shifts.
In my practice at Nolatherapy, I often see couples struggle because they don't understand each other's underlying energetic blueprints. Integrating this into your daily life means realizing that your partner's "defensiveness" might actually be a manifestation of their Chiron in Cancer (a wound around emotional safety).
When you see the world through this lens, you stop taking things so personally. You move from a state of reactivity to a state of compassion. This is a huge win for your nervous system and your overall mental health. If you feel you need more direct support in this area, I offer couples therapy and individual zoom therapy to help navigate these dynamics.
Step 5: Evening Integration and Sleep
As you wind down, Psychoastrology® encourages a "release" ritual. If the day felt heavy, it might be because you were fighting against your natural energetic grain.
Use the evening to acknowledge where you resisted your healing process and where you embraced it. I talk a lot about this in The Chiron Effect: the idea that healing isn't a destination, but a daily choice to return to a state of wholeness.
Before you sleep, try a short visualization. Imagine your Chiron wound not as a "broken" part of you, but as a source of wisdom. This changes the narrative from "I am damaged" to "I am evolving."

Why This Works
You might wonder, “Lisa, why involve astrology at all? Isn’t psychotherapy enough?”
Psychotherapy is incredible: it's my life's work. But astrology provides a symbolic language that helps us access the subconscious mind in a way that logic sometimes can’t. It gives us a map to the parts of ourselves that feel "hidden." When we combine the structure of psychology with the symbols of astrology, we create a holistic approach to mental health that addresses the mind, the body, and the spirit.
By making Psychoastrology® a part of your daily routine, you aren't just "managing" symptoms. You are actively participating in your own transformation. You are learning to use your deepest pains as the raw material for your greatest strengths.
