Have you ever felt like you were doing "all the things" for your mental health but still felt stuck in the same old loops? Maybe you’ve sat on the therapy couch for years dissecting your childhood, or perhaps you’ve spent hundreds of dollars on crystals and meditation retreats, hoping for a breakthrough.
If you feel like there’s a missing piece to the puzzle of your personal evolution, I want to introduce you to a concept that has transformed not only my life but the lives of my clients at Nolatherapy: Psychoastrology®.
In my work as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), I realized early on that traditional psychotherapy is incredibly powerful, but it sometimes stops at the edge of the soul. Conversely, spirituality can sometimes feel too "ungrounded" for the practical challenges of daily life. Psychoastrology® is the bridge. It is the intersection where personal psychology meets the wisdom of your natal astrology chart.
By the end of this post, you’ll understand why this integrated approach is the key to unlocking a deeper level of self-growth and how it can help you move from a place of "trying to fix yourself" to a place of profound self-forgiveness and purpose.
What Exactly is Psychoastrology®?
The term Psychoastrology® might sound like a mouthful, but the concept is beautifully simple. It is a trauma-informed framework that uses your unique birth chart as a psychological map.
Traditional psychology looks at your behavior, your environment, and your history to understand why you do what you do. Astrology, on the other hand, looks at the "blueprint" of your energy, the specific configuration of the stars at the moment you were born. When we combine them, we aren't just looking at what is happening; we are looking at the soul's intention behind the experience.
This isn't about "predicting the future" or checking your daily horoscope to see if you’ll find money on the street. It’s about deep, internal archetypal work. It helps us identify the limiting beliefs and daily patterns that are keeping you small, and it gives us a language to discuss the person you need to become to live the life you truly want.

The Power of the Birth Chart as a Psychological Map
Think of your birth chart as a snapshot of the sky at the exact moment you took your first breath. In Psychoastrology®, we don't view this as a destiny written in stone, but as a set of potentials and challenges.
Most people know their Sun sign, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Your chart contains your Moon (your emotional needs), your Mercury (how you communicate), and your Venus (how you love). When we look at these through a psychological lens, we can see why you might struggle with work/life balance or why you keep attracting the same type of partner in couples therapy.
Instead of feeling like your "flaws" are personal failures, Psychoastrology® allows you to see them as part of your energetic makeup. This shift in perspective is the first step toward radical self-acceptance.
Chiron: The Key to Your Core Wound
The heart of my work and the foundation of my book, The Chiron Effect, is the study of the asteroid Chiron. In mythology, Chiron was known as the "Wounded Healer." In your astrology chart, Chiron represents your deepest core wound, the place where you feel most "broken" or inadequate.
We all have one. For some, it’s a wound of belonging; for others, it’s a wound of worthiness or voice. These wounds often manifest as self-sabotage, chronic anxiety, or a feeling of being an "imposter" in your own life.
What makes Psychoastrology® different is that we don't just try to "fix" the wound. We use it. By understanding your Chiron placement, we can identify the specific narrative of your pain. When you name the wound, it loses its power over you. You stop being a victim of your past and start becoming the architect of your future.
You can learn more about your specific core wounds and how to heal them on my Chiron page.

Moving from Judgment to Self-Forgiveness
The most common roadblock to self-growth is judgment. We are often our own harshest critics. We tell ourselves we should be further along, that we shouldn't feel this way, or that we are "too much" (or "not enough").
Psychoastrology® changes the conversation from "What is wrong with me?" to "What is the lesson here?"
In my practice at Nolatherapy, I emphasize that all forgiveness begins with self-forgiveness. You cannot heal what you are busy judging. When we look at your chart and see the planetary tensions you were born with, it creates a sense of "Aha!" suddenly, you realize that your struggles aren't because you are "bad" or "lazy", they are the specific lessons your soul came here to master.
This compassionate approach allows you to lower your defenses. And when your defenses are down, true transformation can finally begin. If you're feeling overwhelmed by self-criticism, reaching out for zoom therapy can be a great way to start this journey in a safe, guided space.
Integrating Psychology: The LCSW Perspective
While the astrology provides the map, the psychology provides the tools for the journey. As a therapist, I use evidence-based techniques to help you navigate the insights we find in your chart.
For example, if your chart indicates a struggle with boundaries (perhaps a heavy Neptune influence), we use psychological tools to practice assertiveness and somatic awareness. We don't just say, "Oh, it's just my Neptune." We say, "My Neptune makes me naturally empathetic and porous; how can I use my psychological tools to protect my energy?"
This integration is vital. Without the psychology, astrology can become a way to bypass reality (spiritual bypassing). Without the astrology, psychology can sometimes feel clinical and devoid of spirit. Together, they create a holistic approach to services that honors your entire humanity.

Practical Steps: How to Apply Psychoastrology® Today
You don’t need to be an expert in astrology to benefit from this approach. Here are a few ways you can start changing your approach to self-growth right now:
- Identify Your Patterns: Look back at the last three major challenges in your life. Is there a common theme? (e.g., feeling ignored, feeling overwhelmed, feeling responsible for others).
- Look Up Your Chiron: Find where Chiron is in your birth chart. This will give you a clue as to where your "core wound" lies.
- Practice Self-Forgiveness: The next time you catch yourself in a cycle of self-blame, stop and say, "I am doing the best I can with the blueprint I have."
- Seek Holistic Support: Don't be afraid to mix modalities. Listen to interviews with experts who bridge the gap between the seen and unseen worlds.
- Align with Your Potential: Instead of trying to be someone else, ask yourself, "How can I be the highest expression of me?"
Why This Matters Now
We are living in a time of massive collective shift. Old systems are breaking down, and many of us are feeling the pressure to evolve quickly. The old ways of "grinding" through personal growth are exhausting and often ineffective.
Psychoastrology® offers a more graceful path. It acknowledges your trauma without letting it define you. It honors your spirituality without ignoring your human needs. It is a path of empowerment, discovery, and, ultimately, liberation.
If you are ready to stop fighting yourself and start flowing with your natural energy, I invite you to explore this work further. Whether it's through reading my book, listening to my podcast appearances like 11:11 Talk Radio, or booking a private session, the door is open.
You aren't broken, and you don't need to be "fixed." You simply need to be understood: by yourself, most of all.
