Have you ever felt like you’re running in circles? Maybe you’ve noticed that you keep dating the same type of person who isn’t quite right for you, or you find yourself hitting the same wall of self-doubt every time you’re about to level up in your career. It’s frustrating, right?
Traditional talk therapy is an incredible tool: I’ve dedicated my life to it as an LCSW: but sometimes, we need a different kind of map to find the treasure buried beneath our patterns. That’s where Psychoastrology® comes in.
In this guide, I’m going to take you through everything you need to know about this unique methodology and how it can be the "secret sauce" for your personal transformation. Whether you’re a therapy veteran or someone just starting to explore the depths of your inner world, understanding the intersection of your psychology and your astrology can change everything.
What is Psychoastrology®?
At its heart, Psychoastrology® is a therapeutic bridge. It’s a method I created to integrate the clinical, evidence-based practices of psychotherapy with the ancient wisdom of natal astrology.
Wait: don’t worry, we aren't talking about "what’s your horoscope for the day" kind of astrology. Instead, we use your birth chart as a highly specific diagnostic tool.
In clinical psychology, we talk a lot about "repetition compulsion": the way humans are wired to repeat painful patterns from our past. We look at attachment theory and early development. But Psychoastrology® adds a celestial dimension to this. By looking at where the planets (and specifically the asteroid Chiron) were at the moment you were born, we can pinpoint exactly where your "core wounds" are located.

When we combine this with traditional therapy sessions, we don't have to spend years "rehashing" old trauma just to identify the problem. We find the "why" faster, so we can get to the "how" of healing.
The Heart of the Matter: The Chiron Effect
If Psychoastrology® is the map, then The Chiron Effect is the compass.
Chiron is known in mythology as the "Wounded Healer." In astrology, its placement in your chart reveals your deepest vulnerabilities: the places where you feel "not enough," rejected, or fundamentally broken.
My book, The Chiron Effect: Healing Our Core Wounds through Astrology, Empathy, and Self-Forgiveness, dives deep into this concept. I realized that our problems usually cluster around twelve main areas of wounding. When you know which area is yours, you can stop fighting the symptoms and start healing the source.

As His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama so kindly said of the book, "I am sure your book will be of interest to many and will greatly benefit readers." The goal isn't just to "know" your wounds; it's to transform them into your greatest strengths.
Why Personal Transformation Often Stalls
Most of us want to change, but we try to do it through sheer willpower. We tell ourselves, "I'm going to be more confident," or "I'm going to stop overworking." But willpower lives in the conscious mind, while our wounds live in the unconscious.
Psychoastrology® helps you pull those unconscious patterns into the light. When you see that your tendency to self-sabotage is actually a "magnetic orbit" around a specific Chiron wound (like a fear of inadequacy or a wound of neglect), the pattern loses its power over you.
You move from being a victim of your "frequency" to being the creator of it. As I often discuss on my podcast, All Things Therapy, changing your orbit changes your life.

How to Succeed in Your Transformation: A 3-Step Path
If you’re ready to use Psychoastrology® to fuel your growth, here is the roadmap I use with my clients:
1. Identify Your Core Wounding
You can't heal what you don't acknowledge. By finding your Chiron placement, you identify which of the 12 core wounds is acting as your "gravity." Is it a wound of communication? A wound of value? A wound of power?
You can find your placement using the Chiron calculator here. Once you have the sign and house, the patterns of your life will suddenly start to make a lot more sense.
2. Practice Radical Empathy and Self-Forgiveness
This is the "prescription" side of Psychoastrology®. Most people try to "fix" themselves with criticism. In my practice, we use empathy.
When you look at your "wounded" parts with compassion instead of judgment, you create the safety required for real change. Self-forgiveness is the bridge that allows you to let go of the past and step into a new frequency. It’s not just a nice idea: it’s a neurological shift.
3. Take Purposeful Action (The Prescription)
In my book and during FaceTime or Zoom sessions, I provide specific affirmations and practical steps tailored to your unique chart. For example, if your wound is in the area of "Self-Worth," your work might involve setting boundaries in your career or learning to receive compliments without deflective humor.
These aren't generic tips; they are "medicine" for your specific soul-wound.

The Journey Forward
Transformation isn't a destination; it's a way of being. Using Psychoastrology® doesn't mean you'll never feel pain again, but it does mean you’ll have a toolkit to navigate that pain with grace and understanding.
You are a spiritual being having a human experience, and your "wounds" are actually the doorways to your highest potential. By blending the structure of psychology with the insight of astrology, you give yourself the best possible chance at living a balanced, fulfilled, and joyful life.
