Have you ever felt like you’re repeating the same patterns in your life, no matter how much therapy you do or how many self-help books you read? Maybe it’s a specific type of relationship that keeps showing up, or a lingering sense of "not being enough" that follows you from job to job.
If this sounds familiar, I want to welcome you to a different way of looking at your life. I’m Lisa Tahir, and I’ve spent my career as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) finding the "missing links" in personal transformation. What I discovered is that traditional therapy is powerful, but when we bridge it with the ancient wisdom of the stars, we unlock a map to the soul that is remarkably precise.
I call this practice Psychoastrology®.
In this guide, I’m going to walk you through everything you need to know about this methodology, how it can help you heal your "core wounds," and why understanding your Chiron placement is the key to finally breaking free from the cycles that hold you back.
What Exactly is Psychoastrology®?
Psychoastrology® isn't about reading your daily horoscope to see if you’ll find money on the sidewalk. Instead, it is a therapeutic framework that fuses personal psychology with natal astrology.
Think of your birth chart as a diagnostic tool. In my practice at Nolatherapy, I use this map not to predict the future, but to understand the "seeds" of your personality. By looking at where the planets were at the moment of your birth, we can identify your unconscious thought patterns, emotional triggers, and the themes that keep resurfacing in your life.
This approach is grounded in Jungian and humanistic psychology. It’s about taking the symbolic language of the stars and translating it into actionable psychological insights. Whether we are working through anxiety, career blocks, or relationship issues, Psychoastrology® provides a shortcut to the "why" behind your behavior.
The Heart of the Work: The Chiron Effect
If Psychoastrology® is the framework, then Chiron is the heart. In astrology, Chiron is a minor planet known as the "Wounded Healer."
I spent years researching this specific placement, which eventually led to my book, The Chiron Effect: Healing Our Core Wounds through Astrology, Empathy, and Self-Forgiveness. Endorsed by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, the book explores how Chiron’s placement in your birth chart acts as a pointer to your deepest emotional wounds.
What is a "Core Wound"?
A core wound is an area of your life where you feel a sense of lack or vulnerability that seems almost impossible to fill. It might manifest as:
- A feeling of being unheard or misunderstood.
- A constant struggle with self-worth.
- Difficulties with intimacy or trust.
- A feeling of being "different" or an outsider.
I call the pull of these wounds "The Chiron Effect." We tend to orbit around these vulnerabilities, attracting people and situations that mirror our pain. But here is the beautiful part: Your greatest wound is also the gateway to your greatest gift. When you heal your Chiron wound, you become the "Wounded Healer" for others in that same area.
4 Steps to Succeed in Personal Transformation
Success in personal growth isn't about being perfect; it’s about being aware and compassionate. Here is how we use Psychoastrology® to navigate the journey.
1. Identify Your Placement
The first step is knowing where your Chiron sits. Is it in Aries, signifying a wound around your right to exist and lead? Or perhaps it’s in Libra, pointing toward wounds in partnership and balance? You can find this through a simple natal chart calculation. Once we identify the sign and house, the "unconscious" becomes "conscious." You stop wondering why you feel the way you do and start seeing the pattern.
2. Practice Radical Empathy
In my Zoom therapy sessions, I often talk about the power of empathy, not just for others, but for yourself. Transformation stalls when we judge ourselves for our triggers. When you realize that your reaction is coming from a core wound identified in your Psychoastrology® profile, you can say, "Ah, there is my Chiron in Gemini feeling unheard again. It's okay to feel this way."
3. The Power of Self-Forgiveness
You cannot heal what you are still punishing yourself for. Self-forgiveness is the medicine that stops the "orbit" of the Chiron Effect. It’s a conscious decision to release the debt you think you owe for your past mistakes or perceived inadequacies.
4. Integration via Energy and Mindset
Transformation requires more than just talking. It requires changing your "frequency." I integrate meditation, energy principles, and affirmations into my work. For example, if we are working on self-esteem, we might use specific affirmations infused with Reiki healing energy to anchor your new, empowered belief system.
Why Virtual Therapy is a Game Changer
I know that life is busy. Between work/life balance and personal commitments, finding time for self-growth can feel like another chore on the to-do list. That’s why I’ve dedicated my practice to being virtually accessible.
Whether it's via FaceTime, Zoom, or phone, virtual therapy allows you to do this deep, transformative work from the safety and comfort of your own space. There’s something incredibly powerful about processing a core wound while sitting in your favorite chair with a cup of tea. It brings the healing directly into your daily life.
