Have you ever felt like you’re repeating the same emotional patterns, no matter how many self-help books you read or how much "positive thinking" you try to do? Maybe you find yourself constantly people-pleasing, or perhaps you struggle with a nagging sense of "not being enough" in your career or relationships.
We often look for the "why" in our past or our psychology, but there’s a missing piece to the puzzle that many people overlook: the intersection of your unique astrological blueprint and your current mindset.
In my work at Nolatherapy, I call this Psychoastrology®. It’s a method I developed that blends the clinical depth of psychotherapy with the spiritual insight of astrology, specifically focusing on "The Wounded Healer," or Chiron.
By understanding where your deepest wounds live (astrology) and learning how to shift your response to them (mindset work), you can unlock a level of emotional freedom you never thought possible. Here is an easy, 5-step guide to using Psychoastrology® to transform your life.
Step 1: Identify Your "Chiron" Placement (Name the Core Wound)

The first step toward emotional freedom is identifying the source of your recurring pain. In astrology, the asteroid Chiron represents the "wounded healer." It points to a part of your life where you feel fundamentally broken or defective, but it also holds the key to your greatest wisdom.
Unlike your Sun sign (your core identity) or your Moon sign (your emotional world), Chiron represents a specific sensitivity you’ve carried since childhood. To find your Chiron placement, you’ll need your birth date, time, and location to run a natal chart.
Once you know which sign and house your Chiron is in, you can start naming the wound. For example:
- Chiron in Aries: A wound around the right to exist or be assertive.
- Chiron in Taurus: A wound around self-worth, money, or physical security.
- Chiron in Libra: A wound around relationships and feeling "whole" only when with another.
Why this matters: When you name the wound, it loses its power over you. You realize that your "flaws" aren't personal failures, they are part of a cosmic blueprint you are here to heal. You can learn more about how this works in my book, The Chiron Effect.
Step 2: Translate Astrology into Daily Mindset Patterns
Once you’ve identified your Chiron placement, it’s time to look at how that "cosmic wound" shows up in your day-to-day life. This is where the mindset work begins.
Psychology and astrology are two sides of the same coin. Your Chiron placement often dictates your "limiting beliefs", those quiet voices in your head that tell you what you can’t do.
Ask yourself these questions:
- Given my Chiron placement, what do I secretly believe about myself? (e.g., "I’m not worthy of a healthy relationship.")
- How does that belief show up in my behavior? (e.g., "I tolerate bad behavior from partners because I’m afraid of being alone.")
- What is the "payoff" for staying in this pattern? (e.g., "It feels safe because it's familiar.")
By translating an abstract astrological sign into concrete daily behaviors, you bridge the gap between "spiritual insight" and "real-world change." You stop being a victim of your "chart" and start becoming the architect of your mindset.
Step 3: Use "State Practices" to Regulate Your Nervous System

You can have all the insight in the world, but if your nervous system is in a "fight or flight" state, your brain won't be able to process new, healthy thoughts. This is why state practices are a non-negotiable part of Psychoastrology®.
State practices are tools that shift your energy out of stress and into a state of openness. When we work together in Zoom or phone sessions, I often guide clients through these techniques to prepare their minds for deep work.
Try this simple practice today:
- The 4-7-8 Breath: Inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 7, and exhale slowly for 8. This tells your brain that you are safe.
- Grounding: Place your feet flat on the floor and feel the weight of your body in your chair. Remind yourself, "I am here, and I am safe."
- Sound Frequencies: Listening to specific frequencies (like 528Hz for DNA repair/healing) can help shift your vibration when you feel stuck in a low-energy loop.
Mindset work isn't just about thinking better thoughts; it’s about creating a physical environment in your body where those thoughts can actually take root. I discuss many of these tools on my podcast, All Things Therapy, where we dive deep into the intersection of mental health and spirituality.
Step 4: Practice Radical Self-Forgiveness

This is the heart of my approach. Many people use astrology or psychology to find more things "wrong" with themselves. They use their Chiron placement as another reason to feel broken.
Psychoastrology® is about the exact opposite. It is about looking at that wounded part of yourself, that "Inner Child" who felt rejected or unheard, and offering them radical empathy.
I often ask my clients to visualize their younger selves. If you saw a five-year-old version of you feeling the pain of your Chiron wound, would you judge them? Or would you hold their hand?
Self-Forgiveness Exercise:
Write down a list of things you’ve been judging yourself for. Then, read them aloud and follow each one with: "I forgive myself for believing I had to be perfect to be loved," or "I forgive myself for the ways I survived when I didn't know any better."
Forgiveness isn't about saying what happened was "okay"; it’s about releasing the heavy weight of judgment so you can finally move forward. This is the path to true emotional freedom.
Step 5: Install New Beliefs Through Aligned Action

The final step is to take your new insights and turn them into a new reality. Insight without action is just a daydream. To change your life, you have to "act as if" your new, healed beliefs are already true.
If your Chiron is in Taurus and you’ve realized your core wound is around "unworthiness," your new belief might be: "My value is inherent and not tied to my bank account."
Now, what does "Aligned Action" look like?
- It might mean saying "no" to a project that drains you, even if the money is good.
- It might mean buying yourself something small and beautiful just because you enjoy it.
- It might mean starting each morning by looking in the mirror and saying, "I am worthy of all the good that is coming to me today."
By taking small, consistent actions that align with your new mindset, you retrain your brain. You prove to yourself that the old Chiron stories are no longer in charge.
