Have you ever felt like you’re running on a treadmill when it comes to your personal growth? You do the work, you read the books, maybe you’ve even spent years in traditional talk therapy, yet you find yourself tripping over the same emotional hurdles. Perhaps it’s a recurring feeling of "not being enough," a consistent struggle with setting boundaries, or a mysterious sense of isolation that follows you no matter how many people are in the room.

If this sounds familiar, I want you to know that you aren't "broken," and you aren't failing at healing. You might just be looking at the symptoms rather than the source. In my work as a therapist and through my book, The Chiron Effect, I’ve found that the missing piece for many people is understanding their "core wounds" through the lens of psychoastrology.

Understanding the Chiron Effect is about more than just identifying your pain, it’s about changing the very frequency of your life.

The Pattern You Can’t Quite Shake

In psychotherapy, we often talk about patterns. We look at your childhood, your past relationships, and your habits. But sometimes, those patterns feel so deeply rooted that they seem written into our DNA. In astrology, there is a placement called Chiron, known as the "Wounded Healer."

Chiron represents the place where we were wounded in early life, often in ways that feel impossible to heal. Because this wound is so tender, we build our entire personalities around protecting it. We develop "orbits", magnetic pulls toward certain types of people, situations, or self-sabotaging behaviors that keep us trapped in the same loop of pain.

The "Effect" happens when we stop trying to fix the symptoms and start looking at the specific placement of Chiron in our birth chart. This serves as a diagnostic tool that points us directly to the core issue. Instead of guessing why you feel a certain way, you get a roadmap.

Breaking the "Orbit" of Your Pain

One of the most transformative concepts I discuss in The Chiron Effect is the idea of "orbit." Think of your core wound like a planet with a heavy gravitational pull. Without realizing it, your thoughts, choices, and reactions are pulled into its gravity. You might find yourself dating the same person with a different face, or feeling the same sting of rejection at every job you hold.

Traditional therapy often involves rehashing these events over and over. While there is value in being heard, simply talking about the pain can sometimes keep you stuck in its orbit.

To break free, you have to shift your frequency. This means moving from a state of unconscious reaction to a state of conscious action. When you understand your Chiron placement, you recognize the "pull" before you spiral. You can say, "Oh, there’s that old wound of 'lack' showing up again," and instead of reacting, you can use specific tools, like affirmations and meditation, to stay grounded.

Astrology as a Diagnostic Tool for the Soul

I know what some of you might be thinking: "Lisa, you’re a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Why are you talking about astrology?"

The truth is, I’ve found that combining the clinical foundations of psychology with the spiritual insights of astrology creates a shortcut to healing. I call it psychoastrology. When we look at your birth chart, specifically where Chiron was when you were born, we find a specific theme.

There are 12 main core wounds based on the signs and houses. For example:

  • Chiron in Aries: Wounds centered on the right to exist and self-worth.
  • Chiron in Taurus: Wounds regarding neglect and physical security.
  • Chiron in Gemini: Wounds around communication and being understood.

By identifying which one applies to you, we move from a "broad" approach to a "laser-focused" approach. It saves years of wondering why you feel the way you do. You can explore more about these placements and how they affect your life on my All Things Therapy podcast.

Why This Isn’t Your Standard Talk Therapy

Traditional models often focus on the "what" and the "who." Who hurt you? What happened? While those are important questions, the Chiron Effect focuses on the "how" and the "now."

How are you unconsciously repeating this pattern today? And how can you take personal responsibility for changing it?

This framework integrates three dimensions of healing:

  1. Psychology: Understanding the cognitive and emotional patterns.
  2. Spirituality: Connecting to a higher sense of purpose and the energy of the universe.
  3. Personal Responsibility: Taking the driver's seat in your own life.

By combining these, you aren't just "managing" your symptoms; you are alchemizing them. You are taking the "lead" of your pain and turning it into the "gold" of your wisdom. This is the heart of what I offer through zoom therapy and my workshops.

Turning Your Greatest Wound into Your Greatest Gift

The most beautiful part of the Chiron story is that Chiron eventually becomes the teacher and the healer for others. He couldn't heal his own wound, but in his quest to find a cure, he gained so much knowledge that he became a mentor to heroes like Achilles and Hercules.

Your core wound is not a life sentence. In fact, it is your greatest resource. The very area where you have suffered the most is likely where you have the most empathy, wisdom, and strength to offer the world.

When you heal the wound of "not belonging," you become the person who makes everyone feel welcome. When you heal the wound of "silence," you become a powerful communicator who speaks for those who can't. Your healing doesn't just benefit you; it ripples out to everyone you touch.

Practical Steps to Start Today

If you’re ready to stop the cycle and start the transformation, here are a few ways to begin:

  • Self-Empathy: The next time you feel that familiar "sting" of your core wound, don't judge yourself. Instead of saying, "Why am I doing this again?" say, "I recognize this is my Chiron wound, and I am learning to handle it differently."
  • Identify Your Placement: You can find your Chiron placement by looking up your birth chart online. Once you know the sign, you can start looking for the specific patterns associated with it.
  • Affirmations: In my book, I provide specific affirmations for each of the 12 placements. These aren't just "feel-good" quotes; they are designed to rewire the specific neural pathways associated with your wounding.
  • Meditation: Use meditation to get quiet enough to feel the "frequency" of your body. When you feel a trigger, breathe into the physical sensation rather than the story your mind is telling you.

Your Path to Transformation

Healing is a journey, but it doesn't have to be a mystery. By understanding the Chiron Effect, you give yourself a map and a compass. You move from being a victim of your past to being the architect of your future.

If you’re feeling a pull toward this work, I encourage you to trust that intuition. Whether you are dealing with individual struggles or looking to improve your relationship through couples therapy, understanding these core dynamics is the key to lasting change.
