We’ve all been there. You’ve done the face masks, you’ve downloaded the meditation apps, and you’ve even tried that fancy lavender tea everyone is talking about. But for some reason, that nagging feeling of "not being enough" or that cycle of self-sabotage keeps coming back. It’s like putting a colorful Band-Aid on a wound that actually needs stitches.
Traditional self-care often feels like symptom management. We treat the stress, the fatigue, or the burnout after they’ve already taken hold. But what if you could look deeper? What if you had a map that didn’t just tell you that you were hurting, but exactly why and where that pain started?
That’s where Psychoastrology® comes in. It’s a methodology I developed to bridge the gap between clinical psychology and the intuitive wisdom of astrology. It’s not about predicting the future; it’s about understanding your present so you can create a better version of yourself. When you start approaching your self-care through this lens, everything changes.
Moving Beyond "Surface-Level" Wellness
Let’s be real for a second: the wellness industry has turned self-care into a multi-billion dollar business, yet we are more stressed than ever. If you find yourself wondering if stress is affecting your body, you aren't alone. Most of us are running on fumes, trying to "fix" ourselves with external remedies.
Psychoastrology® shifts the focus from the external to the internal. Instead of asking "How can I feel better today?" it asks "What is the core wound that is making me feel this way?"
By using your natal chart as a diagnostic tool, we can identify specific behavioral patterns and psychological predispositions. We aren't just looking at your Sun sign to see if you’re "stubborn" or "emotional." We are looking at the placement of Chiron, the "Wounded Healer", to see where you carry your deepest vulnerabilities. This is the difference between taking a nap because you're tired and understanding the psychological drain that made you exhausted in the first place.

What Exactly is Psychoastrology®?
You might be thinking, "Lisa, I love astrology, but how does it help my mental health?"
As an LCSW, I spent years practicing traditional psychotherapy. While talk therapy is incredibly valuable, I found that many clients reached a plateau. They knew what they were doing, but they didn't know how to stop the cycle. When I began integrating the themes of the asteroid Chiron into our sessions, the breakthroughs happened much faster.
Psychoastrology® is the integration of psychology, spirituality, and personal responsibility. It’s a way to see your mind and emotions as a guidance system. In my book, The Chiron Effect: Healing Our Core Wounds through Astrology, Empathy, and Self-Forgiveness, I dive deep into how these twelve core wounds, ranging from feelings of low self-worth to a sense of neglect, show up in our lives based on where Chiron was at the moment of our birth.
When you understand your Chiron placement, you aren't just looking at stars; you're looking at your own blueprint. You start to see that your "flaws" aren't actually flaws, they are indicators of where you are meant to heal and, eventually, where you are meant to lead others.
The Role of Chiron: The Wounded Healer
In Greek mythology, Chiron was a centaur known for his wisdom and healing abilities. However, he suffered from a wound that he could not heal for himself. This paradox is the heart of my work. We all have a "Chiron" area in our lives, a place where we feel perpetually wounded or "less than."
But here’s the beautiful part: that wound is also where your greatest strength lies.
If your core wound is in the area of communication, you might struggle to speak your truth, but once healed, you become a powerful orator or writer. If it’s in the area of relationships, your struggle with intimacy becomes the catalyst for building the most profound, empathetic connections of your life.
Self-care in Psychoastrology® means tending to this specific wound. It means giving yourself the exact type of "medicine" your soul needs, rather than a generic prescription of "more sleep" or "less screen time."

Self-Forgiveness as the Ultimate Act of Self-Care
If there is one thing I want you to take away from this, it’s that you cannot heal a wound with judgment. You can only heal it with empathy.
Many of us are our own harshest critics. We look at our past decisions, our failed relationships, or our career missteps and we feel shame. This shame is the greatest barrier to transformation. In the world of Psychoastrology®, we replace that shame with self-forgiveness.
Healing your core wounds requires giving yourself love and understanding for every decision you’ve made, even the ones you regret. When you look at your chart and realize, "Oh, I have this placement, no wonder I struggle with boundaries," it takes the "fault" out of the equation. It’s not your fault; it’s your pattern. And once you see the pattern, you have the power to change it.
This compassionate approach is something we talk about constantly on my podcast, All Things Therapy. We explore how to move from a place of self-criticism to a place of radical self-acceptance. Because when you finally forgive yourself, you free up an incredible amount of energy that was previously being used to beat yourself up. That energy can then be used for growth, creativity, and joy.
How to Start Your Journey
So, how do you actually apply this to your life?
- Identify the Pattern: Start noticing the "loops" in your life. Do you always feel rejected? Do you constantly feel like you have to prove your worth? These are clues to your core wounds.
- Explore Your Chart: You don't need to be an expert. You can start by looking up where Chiron is in your natal chart. (I offer Zoom therapy sessions where we can dive into this together!)
- Apply Empathy: The next time you "mess up," instead of spiraling into guilt, ask yourself: "What part of me is hurting right now?" Treat yourself with the same kindness you would give a dear friend.
- Listen and Learn: Tune into the All Things Therapy podcast to hear stories of others who have walked this path. Hearing how someone else transformed their "Chiron wound" into a "Chiron gift" is incredibly inspiring.

Transforming Your Relationships
One of the most surprising benefits of Psychoastrology® is how it changes the way you relate to others. As you develop empathy for your own wounds, you naturally start to see the wounds in others.
Instead of getting angry when a partner or friend reacts defensively, you might start to see the "Chiron wound" they are trying to protect. This doesn't mean you excuse bad behavior, but it does mean you approach conflict with more patience and less judgment. If you’re looking to deepen your connection with a partner, I often recommend couples therapy rooted in these principles. It’s amazing how much friction disappears when you both understand the "maps" you are operating from.
A New Way to Live
Psychoastrology® isn't a quick fix. It’s a lifestyle of self-discovery and intentional living. It’s about learning to live your life with more ease and flow by stopping the war within yourself.
When you align your self-care with your psychological and astrological blueprint, you stop fighting against your nature and start working with it. You begin to see that your life isn't happening to you; it’s happening for you, as a way to lead you back to your most authentic self.
