Have you ever felt like you’re living on a loop? Maybe you keep attracting the same type of unavailable partner, or perhaps you find yourself hitting the same wall of self-doubt every time you try to level up in your career. It’s frustrating, right? You might even start to think that there’s something inherently "wrong" with you or that you’re just destined to repeat the same mistakes forever.

I want to tell you right now: you aren’t broken. You aren’t "destined" for misery. What you’re likely experiencing is the magnetic pull of a core wound.

In my work as a therapist and through my book, The Chiron Effect, I’ve seen how understanding these repetitive patterns, what I call Psychoastrology®, can completely shift the way you look at your past. Instead of seeing your history as a collection of scars or failures, you start to see it as a roadmap to your greatest strengths.

Processing your past isn't just about "getting over it." It’s about integrating it. It’s about taking those parts of you that have been hurting and bringing them into the light so they can finally stop running the show from the shadows.

The Magnetic Pull of Our Past

We often think of our past as something that is behind us, but for many of us, the past is actually operating in the present. It acts like a frequency or a magnetic orbit. Think about the planetoid Chiron. In astrology, Chiron is known as the "Wounded Healer." Its placement in your birth chart points to a specific area where you carry a deep, core wound.

But here’s the thing: that wound doesn’t just sit there. It creates a "frequency" that attracts similar situations into your life. If your core wound is around "Belonging," you might unconsciously seek out groups where you feel like an outsider, just so you can play out that familiar pain. If it’s about "Worthiness," you might find yourself in jobs where you aren't appreciated.

When we process the past through the lens of the Chiron Effect, we stop asking "Why does this keep happening to me?" and start asking "What is this pattern trying to show me?" This shift from victimhood to curiosity is where the magic happens. You begin to see that these repetitive cycles aren't punishments; they are invitations to heal a specific part of your soul.

What is Psychoastrology®?

You might be wondering how a clinical approach like psychotherapy mixes with something like astrology. I developed Psychoastrology® because I realized that traditional talk therapy sometimes misses the "soul" element of our struggles, while traditional astrology can sometimes feel too deterministic or "woo-woo" without practical application.

By combining the two, we get a framework that is both deeply spiritual and practically grounded. We use the placement of Chiron in your natal chart to identify the specific nature of your core wound, whether it’s related to communication, security, power, or love.

Once we identify that wound, we use the tools of psychotherapy, empathy, cognitive reframing, and mindfulness, to start the healing process. This isn't about blaming the stars for your problems. It’s about using the stars as a mirror to see yourself more clearly. If you want to dive deeper into how this works, I talk about it extensively on my podcast, All Things Therapy, where I chat with experts and share insights on how to bridge the gap between the psychological and the spiritual.

The Power of Self-Empathy and Forgiveness

One of the biggest reasons the Chiron Effect changes the way you process your past is its heavy emphasis on self-empathy. Most of us are our own harshest critics. We look back at our younger selves and cringe. We think, “How could I have been so naive?” or “Why did I stay in that situation for so long?”

This harsh judgment keeps us stuck. You cannot heal what you are busy judging.

The Chiron Effect invites you to meet your past self with compassion. When you realize that your "mistakes" were actually survival strategies born out of a core wound, your perspective shifts. You stop seeing yourself as "stupid" and start seeing yourself as someone who was doing the best they could with the emotional tools they had at the time.

Self-forgiveness is the key that unlocks the cage of the past. When you forgive yourself, you break the frequency of the wound. You say to the universe, "I don't need to learn this lesson through pain anymore." This is a huge part of the work I do with clients in zoom therapy. We work on dismantling that inner critic and replacing it with a voice of compassion.

Transforming Pain into Wisdom: The Wounded Healer

The archetype of Chiron is a powerful one. In mythology, Chiron was a centaur who was a master of healing, music, and prophecy. Yet, he had a wound that he could not heal for himself. Instead of letting that wound embitter him, he used his experience of pain to become the greatest healer of his time.

This is the ultimate goal of processing your past through this framework. Your wounds are not defects; they are the fertile ground where your wisdom grows.

Think about the most empathetic person you know. Chances are, they have been through some stuff. Their ability to hold space for others comes directly from their own experience of suffering. When you process your past this way, you realize that your "damage" is actually your "depth."

By making conscious contact with your core wounds, you gain the ability to help others who are walking a similar path. Your history becomes a resource rather than a burden. This is how we move from being "wounded" to being "the wounded healer."

Breaking the Cycle: Making Different Choices

The most practical benefit of the Chiron Effect is that it gives you the power of choice. When you are unaware of your core wounds, you are reacting to life. You are a ship being tossed around by the waves of your subconscious.

But once you understand your Chiron placement and the patterns it creates, you gain a "buffer" between the trigger and the reaction. You can catch yourself in the moment.

For example, if you know your core wound is about "Value," and you’re about to accept a low-ball offer for a project, you can pause. You can recognize, “Oh, this is my Chiron in the 2nd House talking. I don’t have to agree to this. I am worthy of more.”

This conscious awareness allows you to make choices that align with your current self, not your wounded past self. It allows you to live a more fulfilled and authentic life. If you're struggling to navigate these choices in your relationships, I often work with couples on these exact themes to help them break collective cycles. You can learn more about that on our couples therapy page.
