7 Mistakes You’re Making with Your Emotional Health (and How to Fix Them with Psychoastrology®)

We all want to feel better. We want more peace, less anxiety, and a sense of purpose that doesn’t feel like a constant uphill battle. But often, despite our best intentions, we fall into "emotional health traps" that keep us stuck in the same cycles of burnout, resentment, and self-doubt.

If you’ve ever felt like you’re doing "all the right things": reading the books, going to the occasional yoga class, or listening to podcasts: and yet you still feel an underlying sense of "un-wellness," you aren't alone. In my work as a therapist and the creator of Psychoastrology®, I’ve seen how easy it is to misinterpret our emotional needs.

Traditional psychology gives us the "why" and the "how" of our behavior, but astrology: specifically the study of Chiron, the "wounded healer": gives us the map of our deepest soul-wounds. When we blend these two together, we get a powerful blueprint for transformation.

Here are seven common mistakes you might be making with your emotional health and how you can start fixing them today using the principles of Psychoastrology®.

1. You’re Suppressing Your Emotions (The "I'm Fine" Mask)

Many of us were taught that "emotional maturity" means keeping a lid on things. We push down anger, swallow our sadness, and tell the world we’re "just fine" when we are actually drowning.

The Mistake: Suppressing emotions doesn't make them go away; it just stores them in your body. This leads to physical tension, chronic stress, and eventually, explosive outbursts or deep depression.

The Fix with Psychoastrology®: In my book, The Chiron Effect, I talk about the importance of naming the wound. Instead of suppressing, we look at where Chiron sits in your birth chart. That placement often points to where you feel "not enough." By identifying that specific area: whether it’s a wound of belonging, worthiness, or voice: you can begin to offer yourself targeted empathy. You stop saying "I'm fine" and start saying, "I'm feeling a wound of rejection right now, and that's okay to feel."

2. Mistaking Your "Wound Story" for Universal Truth

We all have a narrative running in our heads. "I'll always be alone," or "I'm not as smart as the people around me."

The Mistake: We treat these thoughts like absolute facts. When you feel a strong emotion, you assume it must be a "truth" about your identity, rather than a temporary state or a learned pattern.

The Fix with Psychoastrology®: This is where we separate the wound from the self. Your Chiron placement doesn't define who you are; it describes a pattern you are here to heal. When you catch yourself in a negative spiral, ask: "Is this a fact, or is this my wound story talking?" Shifting from "I am unlovable" to "My wound of abandonment is feeling triggered" creates the space needed for personal transformation.

3. Staying in Your Comfort Zone to Avoid Discomfort

It’s human nature to avoid pain. We stay in jobs that drain us or relationships that are "safe but stagnant" because the unknown feels more dangerous than the unhappy known.

The Mistake: Growth and comfort cannot coexist. By avoiding the discomfort of change, you are actually choosing the chronic discomfort of a life lived at half-capacity.

The Fix with Psychoastrology®: Embrace the "Wounded Healer" archetype. Chiron shows us that our greatest strength is often hidden within our deepest pain. Healing requires us to move toward the discomfort with curiosity. In our sessions together, we work on expanding your capacity to sit with difficult feelings so they no longer have the power to stop your growth.

4. Spiritual Bypassing (Using Your Chart as an Excuse)

I see this often in the spiritual community: using astrology or "positive vibes only" to avoid doing the actual psychological work.

The Mistake: Saying "I can't help being late/messy/avoidant, I'm a Gemini" or "It’s just my Chiron in the 12th house, I’m destined to suffer." This is called spiritual bypassing: using spiritual concepts to dodge personal responsibility.

The Fix with Psychoastrology®: Integration is key. Psychoastrology® is about using the stars as a diagnostic tool, but using psychology as the treatment. Your chart provides the "weather report," but you still have to build the house. Use your astrological insights to inform your therapy, not to replace it. True healing happens when we pair spiritual insight with evidence-based psychotherapy.

5. Trying to "Lone Wolf" Your Healing

We live in a culture that prizes "self-made" success and "doing it on your own."

The Mistake: Isolation is the enemy of emotional health. Core wounds: especially those related to rejection or abandonment: often happen in the context of relationships. Therefore, they must be healed in the context of relationships.

The Fix with Psychoastrology®: Reach out. Whether it's through couples therapy, a supportive community, or a trusted therapist, being "witnessed" in your healing is vital. We are social creatures. Your Chiron wound is often a call to find your "tribe" and learn that it is safe to be seen, even in your imperfections.

6. Rejecting Practical Tools and Clinical Wisdom

Sometimes, people get so caught up in the "magic" of transformation that they ignore the practical tools that keep us grounded.

The Mistake: Skipping the basics: sleep, nutrition, boundaries, and professional clinical advice. Insight alone doesn't change a life; action does.

The Fix with Psychoastrology®: Apply your insights to your daily routine. If your Psychoastrology® reading shows a wound around "self-care and service" (often seen in Virgo/6th house placements), the fix isn't just knowing that: it's actually setting a boundary at work or scheduling that doctor's appointment. Use my podcast, All Things Therapy, as a resource for practical tips and interviews with experts that bridge the gap between the mystical and the material.

7. Living from Your Wounded Identity

Do you introduce yourself (inwardly) by your trauma? "I'm a survivor of…" or "I'm a child of divorce."

The Mistake: While acknowledging our past is necessary, identifying as the wound keeps you tethered to it. It prevents you from seeing the vibrant, whole person you are becoming.

The Fix with Psychoastrology®: Use the Chiron Effect to move from "Wounded" to "Healer." Your struggles have given you a unique brand of empathy and wisdom that the world needs. When you heal your own core wounds, you naturally begin to radiate that healing to others. Shift your focus from what happened to you, to what is happening through you now.

How to Integrate Psychoastrology® With Your Daily Mental Health Routine

We all have those days where we feel "off", where an old insecurity pops up out of nowhere, or a small criticism from a coworker feels like a massive blow to our self-worth. In my years as a therapist, I’ve found that traditional psychology is incredible for understanding the why, but sometimes we need a more soulful map to navigate the how of healing.

That’s where Psychoastrology® comes in.

If you’re new to my world, Psychoastrology® is a method I developed to bridge the gap between clinical psychotherapy and the ancient wisdom of astrology. Specifically, it focuses on Chiron, the "Wounded Healer" in your birth chart. By understanding your Chiron placement, you gain a diagnostic tool to identify your "core wounds", those recurring patterns of shame, rejection, or inadequacy that keep you stuck.

But Psychoastrology® isn't just something to talk about in a session; it’s meant to be lived. Integrating it into your daily mental health routine can transform the way you relate to yourself and the world.

Here is how you can start blending psychology and spirituality into your daily life for lasting self-growth.

Step 1: Identify Your Core Wound (The Chiron Lens)

A conceptual illustration of Chiron, the Wounded Healer, represented by celestial light and compassionate hands

Before you can integrate Psychoastrology® into your routine, you need to know what you’re working with. In my book, The Chiron Effect, I explain how Chiron’s position in your birth chart acts as a pointer toward your primary area of vulnerability.

For example, if your Chiron is in Aries, your core wound might revolve around a sense of "not being enough" or a struggle with your right to exist and take up space. If it’s in Libra, your wound might manifest as a fear of being alone or a tendency to lose yourself in relationships.

Once you know your sign, you stop seeing your "flaws" as random accidents. Instead, you see them as specific areas that require extra empathy and self-forgiveness.

Morning: Set the Tone with Intentionality

A peaceful morning scene with tea, a journal, and a crystal by a sunlit window

The first 15 minutes of your day are the most fertile ground for your subconscious. Rather than scrolling through your phone, try a "State Practice."

  1. Check-in with your Chiron Theme: Remind yourself of your current focus. If you’re working on a wound of "Worthiness," your intention might be: "Today, I choose to see my inherent value, regardless of my productivity."
  2. Short Meditation: Spend five minutes in breath meditation. Don’t aim for "enlightenment", just aim for neutrality. When an anxious thought pops up, label it as your "core wound talking" and gently return to your breath.
  3. Affirmations: Use a Chiron-specific mantra. One of my favorites is: "I am safe to be me." It’s simple, but for someone with a core wound of rejection, it’s revolutionary.

By doing this, you aren't just "doing self-care"; you are actively reprogramming the limiting beliefs that Psychoastrology® has helped you identify.

Midday: Navigating the "Dips"

Life happens. You get a stressful email, or you feel overlooked in a meeting. This is when your Chiron wound is most likely to "flare up."

In Psychoastrology®, I teach that these moments are actually invitations. Instead of spiraling into self-judgment, try this 2-minute midday check-in:

  • Pause and Scan: Notice the physical sensation of the "dip." Is your chest tight? Is your stomach fluttering?
  • Ask the Question: "Is this related to my core wound?" Usually, the answer is yes. This realization immediately creates space between you and the wound.
  • Go General and Neutral: If you can’t get to "positive," just get to "neutral." Tell yourself, "I’d like to feel a little more ease right now." This shift signals to your nervous system that you are safe and supported.

Evening: The Power of Self-Forgiveness

A warm evening scene with a lit candle and dried lavender, symbolizing reflection and self-forgiveness

The evening is for integration. One of the cornerstones of my work is Self-Forgiveness. It is the "medicine" that heals the Chiron wound.

Before you sleep, take a few minutes to journal or reflect:

  1. Review the Day: When did you feel activated? When did you feel loved?
  2. The Forgiveness Practice: Say it out loud or write it down: "I forgive myself for judging myself when I felt [anxious/unseen/unworthy] today."
  3. Inventory of Growth: Acknowledge one small way you showed up differently. Maybe you didn't over-explain yourself, or maybe you took a five-minute break when you felt overwhelmed. These "micro-upgrades" in behavior are how deep transformation actually happens.

Integrating With Traditional Therapy

A warm and professional virtual therapy office setting representing accessible mental health care

You don't have to do this alone. While a daily routine is vital, having a professional guide can help you see the patterns you might miss on your own.

I offer virtual psychotherapy sessions where we can dive deep into your birth chart using Psychoastrology® while also utilizing traditional evidence-based tools for anxiety, PTSD, or career counseling. My goal is always to provide a safe, compassionate space where you can explore the intersection of your psychology and your spirituality.

If you’re interested in hearing more about these topics, I invite you to listen to my podcast, All Things Therapy, where I interview authors, healers, and experts about the journey of personal transformation.

Ready to Start Your Journey?

Integrating Psychoastrology® into your daily life isn't about becoming "perfect." It's about becoming more empathic toward yourself. It’s about recognizing that your wounds aren't something to be ashamed of: they are the very places where your greatest wisdom and healing power reside.

If you’re ready to discover your Chiron placement and start your own healing journey, you can book a session with me here or pick up a copy of The Chiron Effect to guide your path.

Be gentle with yourself today. You are doing better than you think.

The Ultimate Guide to Psychoastrology®: Everything You Need to Succeed in Personal Transformation

Have you ever felt like you’re running in circles, hitting the same emotional brick walls no matter how many self-help books you read or how many therapy sessions you attend? We’ve all been there. It’s that frustrating feeling of "I know better, but I can't seem to do better."

What if I told you there’s a map for those repetitive patterns? A way to bridge the gap between your conscious mind and your deepest, most hidden wounds? Welcome to the world of Psychoastrology®.

In this guide, we’re going to dive deep into this transformative methodology I developed to help you stop orbiting your pain and start living a life of flow, ease, and authentic joy. Whether you’re a long-time listener of my podcast, All Things Therapy, or you’re brand new to my work, this guide is your roadmap to understanding how the stars and your psyche work together for your healing.

What Exactly is Psychoastrology®?

At its heart, Psychoastrology® is a beautiful fusion of traditional psychology and the intuitive wisdom of astrology. Think of it this way: astrology provides the diagnosis, and psychology (along with spirituality) provides the prescription.

Many people think of astrology as just "predicting the future" or checking a daily horoscope. But in my work, we use the birth chart as a psychological blueprint. It reveals the energetic imprints you were born with, your strengths, your challenges, and most importantly, your core wounds.

By integrating these insights with evidence-based psychological tools, we can move beyond just "knowing" our problems. We can actually heal them.

A peaceful nature scene where two paths representing psychology and astrology merge into one under a canopy of golden trees.

The Heart of the Matter: The Chiron Effect

If Psychoastrology® is the framework, then Chiron is the key. In astrology, Chiron is known as the "Wounded Healer." It’s an asteroid (or planetoid) that represents our deepest emotional hurts, the ones that feel like they may never fully go away.

In my book, The Chiron Effect: Healing Our Core Wounds through Astrology, Empathy, and Self-Forgiveness, I explore how this specific placement in your birth chart acts as a magnet. It creates what I call "The Chiron Effect", a tendency to orbit the same types of people, situations, and triggers that poke at that original wound.

Identifying Your Core Wound

Depending on which zodiac sign Chiron was in when you were born, your core wound will manifest in specific ways:

  • Aries: Wounds around identity and the right to exist.
  • Gemini: Wounds around communication and being heard.
  • Leo: Wounds around creativity and being seen.
  • Scorpio: Wounds around trust and intimacy.

When you identify your Chiron sign, the "random" struggles of your life suddenly start to make sense. You realize you aren't "broken", you're simply reacting to a very specific emotional blueprint.

The Power of Empathy and Self-Forgiveness

Identifying the wound is only the first step. The real transformation happens when we apply the "prescription": Empathy and Self-Forgiveness.

In our culture, we are often taught to be our own harshest critics. We judge ourselves for being "too sensitive," for making the same mistakes, or for not being "further along" in our journey. But judgment is the enemy of healing. You cannot shame yourself into a version of yourself that you love.

A symbolic representation of healing a core emotional wound featuring a kintsugi-style ceramic vessel with gold-filled cracks.

Psychoastrology® teaches us to look at our wounds with compassionate curiosity. Instead of asking, "What is wrong with me?" we ask, "What part of me is hurting, and what does it need?"

Self-forgiveness isn't about letting yourself off the hook for bad behavior; it's about releasing the heavy burden of shame so you have the energy to actually change. It’s about mending the cracks in your soul with gold, much like the Japanese art of Kintsugi, making you stronger and more beautiful for having been broken.

From Insight to Action: Your Transformation Roadmap

So, how do you actually use this information to change your life? Personal transformation isn't a one-time event; it’s a daily practice of alignment. Here are the steps to begin your journey with Psychoastrology®:

1. Locate Your Chiron

You can use a free birth chart calculator online to find out which sign and house Chiron occupies in your chart. This is your starting point. Once you have it, you can dive into the specific chapters of The Chiron Effect to understand your unique patterns.

2. Observe Your "Orbit"

Start journaling about the recurring themes in your life. Do you always feel invisible in your relationships? Do you struggle with a "poverty mindset" even when you're making good money? These are clues to your Chiron placement at work.

3. Practice Daily Self-Empathy

When you feel triggered or "activated," stop for a moment. Place a hand on your heart and acknowledge the pain. Say to yourself, "I see that you are hurting right now. It makes sense that you feel this way given what you've been through." This simple act shifts your nervous system from "fight or flight" to a state of safety.

A person in a relaxed, peaceful state of meditation, bathed in soft morning light, representing self-empathy and inner peace.

4. Use Affirmations and Energy Work

I often use Reiki-infused affirmations to help my clients rewire their belief systems. If your wound is in Gemini (communication), an affirmation like, "My voice matters, and I am safe to express my truth," can be incredibly healing when practiced consistently.

5. Seek Integrative Support

Sometimes, the wounds are too deep to navigate alone. This is where professional therapy comes in. In my virtual therapy sessions, I combine these Psychoastrological insights with traditional talk therapy to help you make concrete behavioral changes. Whether we meet via Zoom, FaceTime, or phone, the goal is to create a safe space for your evolution.

Why This Method Works

The reason Psychoastrology® is so effective for personal transformation is that it addresses the whole person, mind, body, and spirit.

We live in a world that often tries to compartmentalize our experiences. We go to a doctor for our bodies, a therapist for our minds, and perhaps a church or meditation center for our spirits. But you are one integrated being. By using a method that honors your psychological reality and your spiritual essence, you create a synergy that accelerates healing.

Transformation isn't about becoming someone else; it's about peeling back the layers of conditioning and trauma to reveal the radiant person you've always been. It’s about moving from a state of "surviving" your wounds to "thriving" because of the wisdom you’ve gained from them.

Whether you choose to dive into my book, listen to the latest episodes of All Things Therapy, or schedule a one-on-one session with me, know that you are taking a powerful step toward a more authentic and joyful life.

You don't have to stay stuck in the same orbits. The stars may provide the map, but you are the one holding the compass. Let's start navigating toward your brightest future together.

The Ultimate Guide to Psychoastrology®: Everything You Need to Succeed in Emotional Healing

Have you ever felt like you’re running in circles, hitting the same emotional brick walls no matter how much therapy you do or how many self-help books you read? Maybe you struggle with a recurring sense of "not being enough," or perhaps you find yourself in the same draining relationship patterns over and over.

We often look at our problems through a single lens: either purely psychological or purely spiritual. But what if the key to your breakthrough lies at the intersection of the two?

Welcome to the world of Psychoastrology®.

This isn't your typical "what's your sign" conversation. It’s a powerful, trademarked methodology I developed to bridge the gap between traditional psychotherapy and the ancient wisdom of astrology. It’s about using your birth chart as a psychological map to find: and finally heal: the core wounds that have been holding you back.

In this ultimate guide, we’re going to dive deep into how Psychoastrology® works, why the "Wounded Healer" (Chiron) is the secret to your transformation, and how you can start your own journey toward radical emotional healing.

What is Psychoastrology®?

At its heart, Psychoastrology® is the fusion of Jungian psychology and natal astrology. While traditional therapy focuses on your history, thought patterns, and behaviors, astrology provides a symbolic language for the soul's blueprint. By combining the two, we create a multidimensional approach to healing.

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), I’ve spent over 20 years helping people navigate trauma, addiction, and anxiety. What I discovered is that while evidence-based tools are essential, there is often a "missing piece" that lives in our energetic and spiritual makeup.

Psychoastrology® uses your birth chart: not for prediction, but for description. It describes the archetypal energies you were born with and, most importantly, identifies the specific areas where you are most vulnerable to "core wounds."

Hands gently cradling a warm, glowing light symbol of the Chiron key, surrounded by soft greenery, representing the spark of emotional healing.

Meet the Wounded Healer: The Chiron Effect

If you want to succeed in emotional healing through this method, you have to get to know Chiron.

In astrology, Chiron is known as the "Wounded Healer." Named after the centaur in Greek mythology who was a master of the healing arts but could not heal his own wound, Chiron represents our deepest vulnerabilities. In your natal chart, Chiron’s placement points directly to your core wound: the place where you feel the most pain, but also where you have the greatest potential for wisdom.

I call this The Chiron Effect. It is the magnetic pull toward these vulnerable areas that often results in self-sabotage, low self-esteem, or chronic anxiety. By identifying where Chiron sits in your chart, we stop guessing about why you feel stuck and start working on the root cause.

The 12 Areas of Wounding

Depending on which zodiac sign Chiron was in when you were born, your "core wound" will manifest in different ways. Here are a few examples:

  • Chiron in Aries: A wound around the right to exist or personal identity. You might struggle with feeling invisible or "too much."
  • Chiron in Taurus: A wound around self-worth, security, and physical comfort. You might over-identify with your bank account or struggle to feel safe in your body.
  • Chiron in Gemini: A wound around communication and feeling "smart enough." You might fear being misunderstood or judged for your ideas.
  • Chiron in Cancer: A wound around belonging and emotional safety. This often manifests as a deep fear of abandonment.

No matter where your Chiron is, the goal of Psychoastrology® is to move from the pain of the wound to the power of the healer.

The 3-Step Process for Emotional Healing

Success in Psychoastrology® isn't just about gaining knowledge; it’s about application. In my book, The Chiron Effect: Healing Our Core Wounds through Astrology, Empathy, and Self-Forgiveness, I outline a three-part process to facilitate deep, lasting change.

1. Awareness

The first step is always awareness. You cannot heal what you do not acknowledge. By looking at your Chiron placement, we bring the "shadow" into the light. We identify the specific thought patterns and triggers that are tied to your core wound. This isn't about blaming the stars for your problems; it’s about using the stars to understand your psychological architecture.

2. Compassion & Self-Forgiveness

This is where the real "magic" happens. Most of us are incredibly hard on ourselves for having "issues." In Psychoastrology®, we replace judgment with empathy. We recognize that your "defense mechanisms" were actually brilliant survival strategies you developed to protect your core wound. Through self-forgiveness, we release the shame that keeps the wound from healing.

3. Action & Transformation

Once we have awareness and compassion, we move into action. This involves using traditional therapeutic tools: like cognitive reframing or boundary setting: alongside spiritual practices like meditation and energy work. We rewrite the inner narrative from one of "brokenness" to one of "integration."

An inspirational workspace with 'The Chiron Effect' book, a cup of tea, and a laptop showing a therapist on a Zoom call, highlighting virtual accessibility.

Why This Approach Works for Personal Transformation

One of the reasons I am so passionate about this blend of psychology and spirituality is that it addresses the whole person.

We live in a fast-paced world where we are often told to "just get over it" or "think positive." But deep-seated emotional pain doesn't respond well to platitudes. It responds to being seen, understood, and integrated.

Whether you are dealing with PTSD, addiction, or relationship issues, Psychoastrology® provides a framework that makes sense of your suffering. It gives your pain a purpose. When you understand that your greatest wound is also the doorway to your greatest gift, your entire perspective shifts.

Healing in the Digital Age

I know that life is busy, and finding time for deep inner work can feel like another "to-do." That’s why I offer my services through Zoom, FaceTime, and phone sessions.

Virtual therapy allows you to do this profound work from the comfort of your own space. Whether you're in Los Angeles, New Orleans, or anywhere else in the world, you can access these personalized sessions. We dive into your chart, look at your current life challenges, and create a roadmap for your growth that is uniquely yours.

Success in Emotional Healing: What to Expect

When you commit to the path of Psychoastrology®, you aren't just "fixing" a problem. You are embarking on a journey of self-discovery. Here is what success looks like in this process:

  • Better Relationships: When you heal your core wounds (like the fear of abandonment), you stop attracting partners who trigger those wounds. You begin to choose people from a place of wholeness rather than lack.
  • Career Clarity: Understanding your astrological strengths helps you align your work with your soul’s purpose. You stop trying to fit into boxes that weren't made for you.
  • Reduced Anxiety: Much of our anxiety comes from trying to hide or suppress our vulnerabilities. When you embrace your Chiron, that internal tension begins to melt away.
  • Increased Self-Worth: You move from being your own harshest critic to being your own most compassionate ally.

A path winding through a misty forest with sunlight breaking through the trees, symbolizing the journey of personal transformation.

Ready to Begin Your Journey?

Healing is not a destination; it is a continuous unfolding. But having a map makes the journey a whole lot easier.

The Ultimate Guide to Psychoastrology®: Everything You Need to Succeed in Personal Transformation

Have you ever felt like you’re repeating the same patterns in your life, no matter how much therapy you do or how many self-help books you read? Maybe it’s a specific type of relationship that keeps showing up, or a lingering sense of "not being enough" that follows you from job to job.

If this sounds familiar, I want to welcome you to a different way of looking at your life. I’m Lisa Tahir, and I’ve spent my career as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) finding the "missing links" in personal transformation. What I discovered is that traditional therapy is powerful, but when we bridge it with the ancient wisdom of the stars, we unlock a map to the soul that is remarkably precise.

I call this practice Psychoastrology®.

In this guide, I’m going to walk you through everything you need to know about this methodology, how it can help you heal your "core wounds," and why understanding your Chiron placement is the key to finally breaking free from the cycles that hold you back.

What Exactly is Psychoastrology®?

Psychoastrology® isn't about reading your daily horoscope to see if you’ll find money on the sidewalk. Instead, it is a therapeutic framework that fuses personal psychology with natal astrology.

Think of your birth chart as a diagnostic tool. In my practice at Nolatherapy, I use this map not to predict the future, but to understand the "seeds" of your personality. By looking at where the planets were at the moment of your birth, we can identify your unconscious thought patterns, emotional triggers, and the themes that keep resurfacing in your life.

This approach is grounded in Jungian and humanistic psychology. It’s about taking the symbolic language of the stars and translating it into actionable psychological insights. Whether we are working through anxiety, career blocks, or relationship issues, Psychoastrology® provides a shortcut to the "why" behind your behavior.

The bridge is made of organic vines and flowers. The lighting is warm and sunset-like, with soft gradients of orange and pink. Natural textures like stone and leaves are prominent.

The Heart of the Work: The Chiron Effect

If Psychoastrology® is the framework, then Chiron is the heart. In astrology, Chiron is a minor planet known as the "Wounded Healer."

I spent years researching this specific placement, which eventually led to my book, The Chiron Effect: Healing Our Core Wounds through Astrology, Empathy, and Self-Forgiveness. Endorsed by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, the book explores how Chiron’s placement in your birth chart acts as a pointer to your deepest emotional wounds.

What is a "Core Wound"?

A core wound is an area of your life where you feel a sense of lack or vulnerability that seems almost impossible to fill. It might manifest as:

  • A feeling of being unheard or misunderstood.
  • A constant struggle with self-worth.
  • Difficulties with intimacy or trust.
  • A feeling of being "different" or an outsider.

I call the pull of these wounds "The Chiron Effect." We tend to orbit around these vulnerabilities, attracting people and situations that mirror our pain. But here is the beautiful part: Your greatest wound is also the gateway to your greatest gift. When you heal your Chiron wound, you become the "Wounded Healer" for others in that same area.

4 Steps to Succeed in Personal Transformation

Success in personal growth isn't about being perfect; it’s about being aware and compassionate. Here is how we use Psychoastrology® to navigate the journey.

1. Identify Your Placement

The first step is knowing where your Chiron sits. Is it in Aries, signifying a wound around your right to exist and lead? Or perhaps it’s in Libra, pointing toward wounds in partnership and balance? You can find this through a simple natal chart calculation. Once we identify the sign and house, the "unconscious" becomes "conscious." You stop wondering why you feel the way you do and start seeing the pattern.

2. Practice Radical Empathy

In my Zoom therapy sessions, I often talk about the power of empathy, not just for others, but for yourself. Transformation stalls when we judge ourselves for our triggers. When you realize that your reaction is coming from a core wound identified in your Psychoastrology® profile, you can say, "Ah, there is my Chiron in Gemini feeling unheard again. It's okay to feel this way."

3. The Power of Self-Forgiveness

You cannot heal what you are still punishing yourself for. Self-forgiveness is the medicine that stops the "orbit" of the Chiron Effect. It’s a conscious decision to release the debt you think you owe for your past mistakes or perceived inadequacies.

4. Integration via Energy and Mindset

Transformation requires more than just talking. It requires changing your "frequency." I integrate meditation, energy principles, and affirmations into my work. For example, if we are working on self-esteem, we might use specific affirmations infused with Reiki healing energy to anchor your new, empowered belief system.

How to Integrate Psychoastrology® With Traditional Therapy for Deep Emotional Healing

Have you ever felt like you’ve done "all the work": the talk therapy, the journaling, the deep dives into your childhood: yet you still find yourself tripping over the same emotional hurdles? Maybe it’s a recurring sense of "not being enough," or a pattern of choosing partners who can’t quite meet your needs. You have the insight, but the deep, cellular shift you’re looking for remains just out of reach.

I’ve been there too. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 20 years of experience, I’ve seen thousands of clients reach a similar plateau. It was through my own journey of seeking the "missing piece" that I developed Psychoastrology®. This unique approach doesn't replace traditional therapy; instead, it provides a cosmic map that illuminates the shadows traditional psychology sometimes misses.

By integrating the ancient wisdom of astrology: specifically the placement of Chiron: with evidence-based therapeutic techniques like CBT and EMDR, we can unlock a path to healing that is both deeply personal and profoundly transformative.

The Foundation: Why Traditional Therapy is Essential

Before we dive into the stars, it’s important to ground ourselves in the "here and now." Traditional psychotherapy is the bedrock of my practice at Nolatherapy. Whether we are working through PTSD, anxiety, or relationship issues, we need the structure of clinical science to understand our brain’s wiring and our nervous system’s responses.

Methods like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) help us identify the "glitches" in our thinking, while EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) allows us to process traumatic memories that are stuck in the body. These are powerful, proven tools. However, adding Psychoastrology® allows us to move from diagnosing a problem to understanding the soul's blueprint behind it.

What is Psychoastrology®?

You might be wondering, "Lisa, is this just checking my horoscope?" Not quite!

Psychoastrology® is a term I trademarked to describe the intersection of natal astrology and humanistic psychology. We aren't looking at "what will happen to you" next Tuesday. Instead, we use your birth chart as a psychological diagnostic tool.

The star of the show in my work is Chiron, known as the "Wounded Healer." In astrology, Chiron is a minor planet (and a comet) that represents our deepest core wound: the place where we feel most broken or "less than." But here’s the magic: it’s also the place where our greatest healing power resides.

When we identify where Chiron sits in your chart, we aren't just looking at a star; we are looking at a map of your recurring emotional pain points. This insight provides a "shortcut" to the root cause of your struggles, allowing us to focus our therapeutic energy exactly where it's needed most.

The Marriage of Science and Spirit

So, how does this actually work in a session? When you schedule a session with me, we often begin with a traditional intake. We talk about your history, your goals, and what’s bringing you pain right now.

Then, we layer in the Psychoastrology® lens. We look at your Chiron placement to see if it mirrors the patterns you’re describing. For example, if your Chiron is in the sign of Aries, you might struggle with a core wound around "the right to exist" or taking up space. If it’s in Libra, your wound might manifest as a chronic need to please others at the expense of your own identity.

Once we have this "diagnostic" insight, we bring it back down to earth using traditional tools:

  • Awareness: We use the astrological insight to name the wound.
  • Processing: We use EMDR or talk therapy to process the memories associated with that wound.
  • Action: We develop "State Practices": daily rituals, affirmations, and mindset shifts: to retrain your brain and heart.

A cozy and grounded therapy office setting

The Chiron Effect: Healing Your Core Wounds

In my book, The Chiron Effect: Healing Our Core Wounds through Astrology, Empathy, and Self-Forgiveness, I outline how these different wounds manifest. The goal is to move from a state of "unconscious wounding" to "conscious healing."

Integration means taking the abstract (the stars) and making it practical (your daily life). For instance, if we discover your core wound is centered on "low self-worth," we don't just talk about it. We implement specific affirmations and cognitive reframing techniques tailored to your unique astrological signature.

This blend creates a holistic approach that treats you as a whole person: mind, body, and spirit. It’s about moving from a "victim" mindset to one of agency and personal transformation.

The Role of Self-Forgiveness and Empathy

One of the most profound aspects of integrating these two worlds is the cultivation of empathy. It’s hard to judge yourself when you see that your struggles are part of a larger, archetypal human experience.

I was deeply honored when His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama endorsed The Chiron Effect for its focus on empathy and self-forgiveness. In therapy, we often talk about "letting go," but that’s impossible without first forgiving ourselves for the ways we’ve survived. Psychoastrology® gives us a framework to look at our "flaws" with compassion, seeing them not as failures, but as the very soil from which our wisdom grows.

A person meditating peacefully in nature at sunrise

Transforming Pain into Potential

The ultimate goal of this integration is flow. When we stop fighting our core wounds and start working with them, our energy shifts. We stop feeling "stuck" in the same old cycles and start moving toward our human potential.

Whether you are dealing with work/life balance, navigating LGBTQ issues, or seeking couples counseling, this integrated approach provides a wider lens for growth. It helps you see that you aren't broken: you are a masterpiece in progress, guided by both the earth beneath your feet and the stars above your head.

How to Begin Your Integrated Journey

If you're ready to explore this blend of psychology and spirituality, here are a few ways to start:

  1. Find Your Chiron: Use a free online natal chart calculator to find out what sign and house your Chiron is in.
  2. Read the Book: Dive deeper into the meanings of each placement with The Chiron Effect.
  3. Listen and Learn: Tune into my podcast, All Things Therapy, where I discuss these topics with experts and change-makers.
  4. Book a Session: If you're ready for personalized support, I offer virtual therapy via FaceTime, Zoom, and phone. You can book your session here.

Final Thoughts

Healing isn't a linear path, and it doesn't have to be done in a vacuum. By bridging the gap between clinical psychology and the intuitive insights of Psychoastrology®, we create a "third way": a path of deep emotional healing that honors your unique spirit.

You have the power to transform your pain into your greatest strength. I’m here to help you navigate the map.

Why Psychoastrology® Will Change the Way You Handle Anxiety

Do you ever feel like your anxiety is a storm that comes out of nowhere? One minute you’re fine, and the next, your heart is racing, your thoughts are spiraling, and you’re wondering why you feel so "off." We’ve all been there. Traditional therapy is a wonderful tool, I use it every day in my practice, but sometimes, we need a deeper map to understand the why behind the worry.

That’s where Psychoastrology® comes in.

If you’re hearing this term for the first time, don’t worry. It’s not about checking your daily horoscope to see if you’ll find money on the ground. It’s a specialized, trademarked method I developed to bridge the gap between clinical psychology and the ancient wisdom of astrology. By combining these two worlds, we can uncover the root causes of anxiety that often stay hidden in the shadows of our subconscious.

What Exactly is Psychoastrology®?

At its core, Psychoastrology® is a therapeutic modality that blends Jungian and humanistic psychology with the precision of your natal astrology chart. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), I’ve seen how traditional "talk therapy" can sometimes hit a wall. We talk about the symptoms, we try the breathing exercises, but the underlying pattern remains.

By looking at your birth chart, specifically the placement of Chiron, known as the "Wounded Healer", we get a diagnostic blueprint of your soul’s journey. This isn’t about "fate"; it’s about understanding the unique emotional imprints you brought into this world. When we apply psychological principles to these astrological insights, we create a powerful catalyst for change.

Understanding the "Chiron" Factor in Anxiety

In astrology, Chiron represents our deepest wound and our greatest potential for healing. In my book, The Chiron Effect: Healing Our Core Wounds Through Astrology, Empathy, and Self‑Forgiveness, I explore how this "wounded healer" planetoid reveals the specific areas where we feel inadequate, unlovable, or anxious.

Anxiety is often a messenger. It’s a signal from your "core wound" that something feels unsafe. For example:

  • Chiron in Aries might manifest as an anxiety about your right to exist or take up space.
  • Chiron in Libra might trigger intense anxiety around relationships and the fear of being alone.
  • Chiron in Capricorn often shows up as high-functioning anxiety related to achievement and worthiness.

When we identify where your Chiron sits, your anxiety stops feeling like a random glitch in your brain. It starts feeling like a narrative that makes sense. And once something makes sense, it loses its power to terrify you.

From Chaotic Spirals to Compassionate Narratives

One of the biggest reasons anxiety feels so paralyzing is the sense of chaos. It feels like you’re being tossed around by waves you can’t see. Psychoastrology® provides the lighthouse.

In our online therapy sessions, we use your chart to map out these waves. Instead of saying, "I'm just an anxious person," we begin to say, "I am experiencing an activation of my core wound regarding security, and I know how to navigate this."

This shift from being the anxiety to observing the pattern is a cornerstone of mindfulness and psychological health. It gives you a sense of agency. You’re no longer a victim of your nerves; you’re an explorer of your own psyche.

A vintage brass compass on a map blending into a starry nebula, representing guidance and self-discovery.

Ending the Cycle of Self-Criticism

Have you noticed that when you’re anxious, you often get angry at yourself for being anxious?
"Why can't I just be normal?"
"I'm overreacting again."
"I should be stronger than this."

This self-criticism is like pouring gasoline on a fire. It keeps your nervous system in a state of high alert. My approach through Psychoastrology® emphasizes empathy and self-forgiveness.

When you look at your chart and see the challenges you were born to navigate, it’s much easier to have compassion for yourself. You wouldn’t get mad at a hiker for being tired after climbing a mountain; why get mad at yourself for struggling with the emotional mountains you were destined to climb?

By replacing "Why am I like this?" with "Oh, I see why I feel this way," you instantly lower the baseline of your anxiety. This is the "Self-Forgiveness" part of The Chiron Effect. It’s about letting yourself off the hook for being human.

Healing in the Digital Age: Virtual Accessibility

I know that life is busy. Between work, family, and trying to maintain a semblance of a social life, finding time for self-growth can feel like another item on an already stressful to-do list. That’s why I’ve dedicated my practice to being virtually accessible.

Whether you’re looking for FaceTime, Zoom, or phone sessions, the healing power of Psychoastrology® is available right where you are. There’s something incredibly grounded about doing this deep, transformative work from the comfort of your own home: your "safe base." It allows the nervous system to remain calm as we dive into the stars.

Practical Steps to Start Handling Anxiety Differently

If you’re feeling the weight of anxiety today, here are three ways to start applying the principles of Psychoastrology® right now:

  1. Acknowledge the Wound: Next time you feel anxious, take a breath and ask, "What part of me feels unprotected right now?" Don't judge the answer. Just listen.
  2. Find Your Chiron: You can find your Chiron placement using any free birth chart calculator online. Once you know the sign and house, look into how that specific energy might be influencing your triggers. (Better yet, pick up a copy of The Chiron Effect for a guided deep dive!)
  3. Practice Affirmations of Empathy: Instead of "I am calm," try "I am learning to be kind to the part of me that is scared." This shift acknowledges the reality of your feelings while pointing toward healing.

Your Journey Toward Personal Transformation

Anxiety doesn't have to be your permanent roommate. By blending the structure of psychology with the insight of astrology, we can move beyond just "managing" symptoms and start truly transforming your life.

You are a complex, beautiful mix of stardust and psychology. You deserve a therapy that honors both. If you’re ready to stop the spiral and start the healing, I’m here to help. Whether it's through my All Things Therapy podcast, my book, or one-on-one sessions, let’s work together to change the way you handle anxiety forever.

Ready to take the next step? You can schedule a session here or reach out to me directly with any questions.

Remember, you aren't broken: you're just in the process of becoming whole.

Why Psychoastrology® Will Change the Way You Heal Your Core Wounds

Have you ever felt like you’re running in circles with the same emotional struggles? Maybe it’s a recurring sense of not being "enough," a persistent fear of abandonment, or a habit of self-sabotage that pops up just when things are going well. We often go to therapy to talk through these patterns, and while traditional talk therapy is incredibly valuable, sometimes it feels like we’re treating the symptoms without ever fully touching the root.

This is where Psychoastrology® comes in.

Created by Lisa Tahir, LCSW, Psychoastrology® is a revolutionary bridge between the grounded world of psychology and the ancient wisdom of astrology. It’s not just about reading your horoscope; it’s about using your unique birth chart as a diagnostic map to locate your deepest "core wounds" and applying psychological and spiritual tools to finally heal them.

In this post, we’re going to dive deep into why this method is a game-changer for personal transformation and how the "Wounded Healer" in your chart: Chiron: holds the key to your greatest strength.

What Exactly is Psychoastrology®?

At its heart, Psychoastrology® is a therapeutic framework that uses the placement of the minor planet Chiron in your natal chart to identify your core wounding. Lisa Tahir coined the term to describe this intersection. While psychology gives us the "how" of our behavior, astrology provides a specific "where" and "why."

Think of your birth chart as a blueprint of your soul's blueprint. Within that blueprint, Chiron acts as a marker for a specific area of life where you feel a deep, persistent sense of vulnerability or pain. By identifying this placement, we can stop guessing why we feel stuck and start working on the specific "core wound" that is driving our unconscious patterns.

A cracked river stone filled with golden light, symbolizing the healing of a core wound through self-compassion.

Understanding Your "Core Wounds"

We all have them. Core wounds are those foundational painful beliefs we carry: often from childhood or ancestral patterns: that shape how we see the world. They manifest as limiting beliefs like:

  • "I am unworthy of love."
  • "I have to be perfect to be safe."
  • "My voice doesn't matter."

In the framework of The Chiron Effect, these wounds aren't just "bad luck." They are the very places where we are meant to find our greatest wisdom. However, until we acknowledge them, they act like a magnetic pull, causing us to orbit around the same painful experiences over and over again. Psychoastrology® helps us break that orbit.

Meet Chiron: The Wounded Healer

In Greek mythology, Chiron was a centaur known for his wisdom and healing abilities. Ironically, he suffered from a wound that he could not heal himself. This archetype represents the part of us that is deeply hurt but, through the process of tending to that hurt, becomes a powerful source of healing for others.

The Chiron symbol, a key-like glyph, floating over a calm lake at dawn, representing the unlocking of personal wisdom.

In your astrological chart, Chiron’s position (by sign and house) points to your specific "Wounded Healer" energy. For example:

  • Chiron in Aries: A wound around identity and the right to exist.
  • Chiron in Taurus: A wound around self-worth and financial security.
  • Chiron in Gemini: A wound around communication and being understood.
  • Chiron in Cancer: A wound around belonging and emotional safety.

Knowing your Chiron placement allows you to stop fighting against your vulnerabilities and start working with them. You can find your own Chiron placement and learn more about its specific meaning on our Chiron information page.

The Path to Healing: Empathy and Self-Forgiveness

So, once you know where your wound is, what do you do with it? This is where Lisa Tahir’s clinical expertise as an LCSW shines through. Psychoastrology® isn't just about identification; it's about a "prescription" for healing.

The primary "medicine" in this practice is empathy and self-forgiveness.

Often, when we realize we’ve been self-sabotaging, our first instinct is to judge ourselves. We think, "Why am I like this? Why can't I just get it together?" But judgment only deepens the wound. Psychoastrology® teaches us to look at our Chiron placement with profound compassion. We learn to say, "Of course I’ve been acting this way: this is where my deepest pain lives. It makes sense."

Through specific affirmations, Reiki-infused intentions, and psychological shifts, we move from the "Wounded" state to the "Healer" state. We take personal responsibility for our growth while maintaining a gentle, loving attitude toward our inner child.

A warm, peaceful therapy room with soft sunlight and plants, symbolizing a safe space for emotional transformation.

Why This Changes Everything

The reason Psychoastrology® is so effective is that it bypasses the ego's defenses. When you see your struggles reflected in the stars, it removes the shame. It’s no longer "what’s wrong with me?" but rather "how is this energy manifesting in my life?"

This method is particularly powerful for:

  • Breakthroughs in Therapy: If you’ve been in therapy or counseling for years and feel like you've plateaued, adding the astrological lens can provide the "aha!" moment you’ve been looking for.
  • Work/Life Balance: Many of our professional stresses are actually projections of our core wounds. Healing the wound naturally leads to better boundaries and clearer career goals.
  • Relationships: Understanding your partner's core wounds (and your own) creates a level of intimacy and patience that is transformative.

Psychoastrology® 101: A Beginner’s Guide to Mastering Your Inner Blueprint

Have you ever felt like you’re stuck in a loop? Maybe you keep attracting the same type of challenging relationship, or perhaps you find yourself hitting the same wall of self-doubt every time you’re about to take a big leap in your career. It can feel like you’re walking in circles, and no matter how much "work" you do on yourself, that one specific ache or pattern just won't budge.

If that sounds familiar, you aren’t alone, and there is a reason for it.

Welcome to the world of Psychoastrology®.

This isn't just your standard horoscope or a typical therapy session. It’s a unique, trademarked methodology I developed to bridge the gap between your personal psychology and your natal astrology. By looking at the stars through a psychological lens, we can uncover your "inner blueprint", the map of your soul’s journey, your deepest wounds, and your greatest potential for healing.

What Exactly is Psychoastrology®?

At its core, Psychoastrology® is a therapeutic framework that uses your natal chart, specifically the placement of an asteroid called Chiron, to understand your psychological patterns, core wounds, and limiting beliefs.

In traditional psychotherapy, we spend a lot of time looking at our history, our childhood, and our behaviors. This is vital work. But sometimes, there’s a missing piece. Astrology provides a symbolic language that can help us identify why certain themes keep showing up. When we combine the clinical depth of psychology with the ancient wisdom of astrology, we create a powerhouse for personal transformation.

My goal at Nolatherapy is to help you use this blueprint not just to understand yourself, but to change your life. Whether we are working through Zoom therapy or discussing these concepts on my podcast, All Things Therapy, the focus is always on shifting your "frequency" from one of wounding to one of empowerment.

The asteroid Chiron as the 'Wounded Healer' in Psychoastrology

Meet Chiron: The Wounded Healer

To master your inner blueprint, you first have to meet Chiron. In mythology, Chiron was a centaur known as the "Wounded Healer." He was a great teacher, healer, and philosopher who, despite being able to heal everyone else, could not heal his own chronic wound.

In your natal chart, Chiron represents your "core wound." This isn't a wound that happened because you did something wrong. It’s a point of vulnerability that you brought with you into this life. It’s like a "raw nerve" in your psyche.

Depending on which astrological sign and "house" Chiron was in at the moment of your birth, your core wound will take on a specific flavor. For some, it’s a wound of rejection or abandonment. For others, it’s a wound of worthlessness or inadequacy.

When we identify your Chiron placement, we stop guessing why you feel triggered in certain situations. We name the wound, and in naming it, we begin to take its power away. You can learn more about this specific process in my book, The Chiron Effect: Healing Our Core Wounds through Astrology, Empathy, and Self-Forgiveness.

Understanding the "Orbit"

One of the most important concepts in Psychoastrology® is what I call The Chiron Effect. Think of your core wound like a planet with a strong gravitational pull. Because that wound is so sensitive, we tend to build our lives in an "orbit" around it.

We choose partners who trigger that wound. We choose jobs where that wound is constantly rubbed raw. We develop defensive behaviors, like perfectionism, people-pleasing, or addiction, to keep ourselves from feeling the pain of that center.

When you are in a "wounded orbit," you are repeating patterns. You are living in a frequency of lack, fear, or "not-enoughness." Mastering your inner blueprint means learning how to change your orbit.

A spiraling path leading toward a starlit clearing

How to Start Mastering Your Blueprint

If you’re ready to stop circling the same old pain and start spiraling upward, here is how you can begin using the principles of Psychoastrology® today.

1. Find Your Chiron

The first step is practical. You need to know where Chiron is in your natal chart. You can find free chart calculators online, or we can look at it together during a personalized session. Once you know the sign (e.g., Chiron in Aries) and the house (e.g., the 4th House), you have the coordinates for your core wound.

2. Practice Radical Self-Empathy

Once you identify the wound, the natural instinct is often to try and "fix" it or judge yourself for having it. In Psychoastrology®, we do the opposite. We meet the wound with empathy. If you have a wound of "inadequacy," instead of yelling at yourself to "be better," you say, "I see that I am feeling inadequate right now. This is my Chiron speaking. It’s okay to feel this way."

3. Use Self-Forgiveness as a Tool

Forgiveness isn't just for other people. Most of the work I do with clients involves forgiving themselves for the coping mechanisms they developed to survive their core wounds. You didn't become a perfectionist because you were "bad"; you became one to protect your vulnerable Chiron. Forgiving that version of yourself is how you break the orbit.

4. Shift Your Frequency

Every Chiron placement has a "low frequency" (the wound) and a "high frequency" (the healing). For example, if your wound is about "not being heard," the low frequency is staying silent or screaming to be noticed. The high frequency is becoming a powerful communicator who helps others find their voice.

The Path to Work/Life Balance and Growth

You might be wondering, "How does astrology help me with my work/life balance?"

The truth is, your "inner blueprint" dictates how you show up in every area of your life. If you have an unhealed core wound around "achievement," you might be a workaholic who can never relax because you’re trying to outrun a feeling of worthlessness. No amount of time-management hacks will fix that, but healing the Chiron wound will.

When you master your blueprint, you stop reacting to life from a place of old pain. You start responding from a place of conscious choice. This leads to:

  • Better Boundaries: You stop saying "yes" to things out of fear.
  • Authentic Relationships: You stop attracting people who mirror your wounds and start attracting those who mirror your health.
  • Career Alignment: You move toward work that feels like a calling rather than a burden.

Final Thoughts: You Are the Architect

Psychoastrology® isn't about your fate being written in the stars. It’s about the stars providing a map that you get to navigate. You are the architect of your life, but it’s much easier to build a beautiful home when you have the blueprints in your hand.

If you are feeling ready to dive deeper into your own map, I invite you to explore the resources here at Nolatherapy. From individual counseling to my book The Chiron Effect, there are many ways to begin this journey.

You don't have to stay stuck in the same old orbit. Your wounds aren't just points of pain: they are the very places where your greatest light is waiting to break through.
